Executive Summary of African Farmers’ Cooperative Continental Nation Sustainable Community Business Development Plan
African Farmers’ Co-operative is a strategic umbrella trading company set up to trade fairly and connect African farmers to their local, national, Africa-continental, and global consumer markets.
Our creative development strategy is to build critical trading infrastructure and the enabling platforms to support African farmers at every stage of production, processing, manufacturing, and distribution.
Our development goal is to add value to farmers’ products and enable them to earn better incomes through the following strategic steps:
- Superior production techniques through research and innovation
- Better access to farm equipment/inputs through collective interest bargains and bulk purchasing agreements with tractor manufacturers and other farm equipment global suppliers
- Advanced storage facilities
- Expanded distribution network
- Higher value addition through improved processing and packaging and local manufacturing
- Reliable linkage to local, national, Africa continental nation, and global markets through AFC umbrella community interest company
Founded by Chief Suleman Chebe, the author of African Dreams, AFC’s business model is different from conventional private companies in terms of the way we generate and distribute wealth/company profits as follows:
- 1. 50% of net profits are redistributed to the registered farmers (members). The 50% allocation to the farmers will be also divided into two, one half distributed to the farmers as direct income from their trade and the other half will be used to develop local amenities for the farmers’ communities based on what the local farmers believe is their collective development priority
- 2. 25% of profits of the AFC are distributed to company founders/company owners
- 3. 25% of our profits are redistributed to company investor shareholders.

Our Founders’ Story
Our Founder is Suleman Chebe (Cheef Chebe), a multi-talented African/Ghanaian creative living in Scotland with an outstanding vision for Africa.
“The first time I conceived the full vision of an African Farmers Co-operative was in 2008. By then, I was in Ghana trying to write my first book: The vision of an AFC hit me like a magic wave on one full moon night at the seaside town of Kokrobitey in the outskirts of Ghana’s capital city, Accra. That night, I sat by the sea with an empty stomach, in deep meditation, wondering what one could do wisely to not only become rich but also make society richer. It was at this point that I saw the vision of an African Farmers Cooperative, trading as a fair, honest, credible, competent, and highly innovative continental nation community interest company.”
Cheef Chebe is not only an author but also a talented musician and founder of the Glasgow African Balafon Orchestra (GABO). He is a fantastic drummer, distinguished balafonist, social entrepreneur, thinker, gifted storyteller, and a dedicated pan-African Community Development Practitioner/Visionary.
